| I have had my camcorder fo some weeks now and have been on holiday i have taken some lovely footage of people and places and it was lovely and clear i enjoyed loking back on it all its a lovely little camcorder not to big and not too small and i would have no hesitation in recommending buying this product to my friends and family however i would prefer it did,nt record in clips it was far better when you could record footage continuing from last footage taken as it just runs through the entire recording throughout |

| Easy to set up and use, compact, lovely to hold, nice to look at and most importantly, great video footage. I paid under £130 which is brilliant value, and I'm very, very happy with it. It's been much used in the three months we've had it. |

| Was looking for something to replace my current mini-dvd camcorder which I was getting fed up with - great quality but too much hassle changing disks after an hour. Saw this at a great price and with good reviews here on Amazon so decided to go for it. Very impressed, good picture quality and sound and with a 16GB SD card (bought separately) I have hours of recording time. The 3 hour battery is an added bonus. Have knocked off 1 star because getting fade in/out to work is a bit of a fiddle and could have been made more conveninet as I'm sure it's a feature that lots of people would like to use. All-in-all though I'm very happy with it. |
Excellent camcorder

I ordered this camcorder just a few days before Christmas (and arrived Christmas Eve - so well done Amazon). It was a replacement for an old Canon MV890 - which was an excellent performer for three years hard use. I'm hoping for something similar from this. It's much smaller than the old MiniDV camcorders but not much lighter. It's certainly not heavy but has a reassuring weight that helps to reduce camera shake on longer, zoomed shots.
Starting it up and taking a video was a cinch. My wife (not technically minded) mastered it, with no assistance and no reference to the manuals, in less than a minute. Nicely, it tells you if you've left the lens-protector closed! Image quality is about what I'd expect for a device at this price. In low-light, everything is a bit orange and there is a fair bit of "noise". However, a button next to the screen allows you to cycle through a few light-modes and it was very simple to get an acceptable picture of the kids playing with their toys in the dark glow of Christmas morning.
I also took my eldest for a walk through the woods on a crisp, clear afternoon and the footage of the frosted trees, frozen ponds and orange bracken looked really good. The only slight downside was that the auto-focus got easily confused when there was a strong backlight - with focus jumping from people in the fore-ground to a bright-skied back-ground with annoying regularity. However, it was easy to operate with gloves on and, when I got home and noticed it was a bit muddy, it wiped clean really easily as well. The build quality certainly feels up to a few knocks and I didn't feel worried carrying it around in a jacket pocket without a case.
Battery life seems excellent and it tells me I'll get four hours from the 8GB SD card I ordered. I've produced my first DVD for the grandparents and it looks really good. Pulling the footage into Windows 7 was a cinch (Live Photo Gallery) and the footage was easily manipulated with the built-in Windows Movie Maker software. I'm now reaching the point where I want to actually open the manual and have a look at a few of the options to make sure I'm getting the most from it. Really pleased, so far. Just knocked off the one star for the auto-focus issues, which I wasn't expecting from a camera that advertises intelligent face-focus (or whatever they call it). |
