Product Description

  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a combination of cooperation and competition. Players can pick each other up to save them from danger or toss them into it.
  • Mario, Luigi and two Toads are all playable characters, while many others from the Mushroom Kingdom make appearances throughout the game. Players can even ride different Yoshi characters and use their tongues to swallow enemies - or their fellow players.
  • In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform - and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players.
  • New items include the propeller suit, which will shoot players high into the sky with just a shake of the Wii Remote and Mario's new ability to transform into Penguin Mario.
  • At the end of each stage during the simultaneous multiplayer mode, players are ranked based on their score, the coins collected and the number of enemies defeated.

A Return To Old Skool Mario Classic 2-D Gaming!

Review Date: November 20, 2009
Reviewer: J. P. Clarke,
Well, I have to say, this game is superb. Maybe I'm biased as I grew up in the era of the NES but the old 2D Mario platforming games are amongst my favourite games ever! Sure, I like to play modern games such as Modern Warfare 2 and while these are perfectly good games (which I enjoy!), I miss a time when games were simpler and you didn't need 80 fingers to play them...

Old skool Mario gamers will love it's nods towards Mario nostalgia - remixed versions of old tunes, old enemies, characters, level layouts, point scoring at the end of levels on flagpoles, card games in Mushroom huts - it has so many references to all the old Mario games that if you were a fan of them, you're going to be instantly won over here!

Currently, I'm only playing this as a one player affair... but the addition of multiplayer will make for some fantastically frantic and fun games! Having played LittleBigPlanet as a multiplayer, all I can say is that this game will blatantly work just as well - in fact, probably a lot better! I found LBP a very good game as well, but for me personally, it lacked the character of Mario.

This game is blatantly aimed at old skool gamers - this game starts off fairly easy but expect the challenge to increase throughout the game! It never gets frustrating and due it's simple design never feels unfair. No glitches, unfair deaths or alike here... it's all your own doing!

While this game looks superb, it doesn't push the hardware to the max. While some people may frown upon this, I think it is refreshing that this game revolves around gameplay rather than graphics. A lot of modern games are certainly guilty of this. Having said that, this game does look very nicely presented - and Nintendo have pushed the graphics as far as a game of this stature will allow.

Finishing note - I haven't felt this inclined to play through a game for a long time. Quite often I can only play a game for a short while before I want a break - this game makes me want to come back for more and I'm having to prevent myself from playing it in order to be more constructive with my time! All I have to say is that if you're an old skool game fan, a Mario fan or just want something more traditional and less complex (but certainly no less deeper) look no further than this game!
Utterly addictive, long playing life

This is exactly the game you'd expect if you've ever played one of the Mario Bros. platform titles before - it's the same scrolling from right to left concept with the same characters, the same format of worlds and Bowser confrontations at the end of each one.

The important difference is that up to four people can play it at the same time - this turns it from a rather solitary and unsociable pursuit into many evenings of fun.

The levels themselves are very difficult - some of the bonuses are only achievable with more than one player playing unless you are very skilled with the controller, especially the time-based collection tasks - which lead me to conclude that this was designed as a multi- rather than a single-player game.

It manages to keep both types of player happy though - both dedicated ones and casual. At first there's 8 worlds to explore, but if you manage to get all the large coins then a 9th opens up for you to try (but you ned to get ALL the big coins in all other 8 worlds to progress to different stages in the final world). This adds a real longevity to the game because once you have it mastered, there's an addd incentive to get all the coins.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to play a fun game with children who have a basic level of proficiency to their gameplaying skills; it would make a great gift too.

Edit: it tok me a week before I realised that if I held the 1 button down while moving, my character would sprint - and therefore jump a little further too (I wish I had known that earlier), and that if I pressed the 'a' button at times of extreme danger I would go back into my bubble and be safe (another thing I wish I knew earlier).

Edit 12March 2010 - my partner and I are still playing this game, having fun looking up the location of the secret coins on youtube! A great game.
Puts the ds version down the drain! (please read this)

18 years it's been since a proper 2-d scroller! And now mario makes his way back to rule the living room.

I won't make this to long!
Straight to the point! The first thing you will notice when you play this game is it's charming new look. Playing it on a big telly will add to the amazement. Older gamers will be happy to know that everything from the origanal mario bros. is still here! The music is in-geneous, It is a remix from the ds version. The new multiplayer is excellent! And if all this still isn't enough, the levels are completly new and never played before!

This is all a bit overwhelming if you are a parent thinking of buying it for a child for christmas. So i will do what I always do sum it up in points.
GOOD
1. fun for everyone (even parents!)
2. great to play for a party
3. new gameplay is excellent
4. controlls are as simple as beans on toast
5. kids will, I repeat will love it!!!
6. game lasts for ages
7. ideal christmas/birthday gift
8. multiplayer and i will say it again is excellent
9. Starts easy ends as hard as nails
10.new powerups
11.timeless mario magic present
12.GAME OF THE YEAR!!

uh oh.. BAD points
1. Yes you can ride on yoshi but it's limeted
2. as the game gets harder, yes there will be cursing going on.
3. is it a bit to hard for young kids?
4. the mega mushroom is missing...
5. can be a tad frustrating at times

Overall though an outstanding game for people aged 3-infinite. Ideal for x-mas and don't hesitate to comment on the review. I will awnser any questions.

Merry X-MAS!
Frustrating but fun

Being middle aged and brought up on the original Mario Bros I have realised I still haven't improved my gaming skills over the years. Mind you cannot fault the game, well conceived, plenty of interesting features and easy to play except for middle aged Duffers.
Fantastic...brings back my childhood!!!

Absolutely fantastic, this is just like when I was 10 years old playing in my friends house with their new SNES console...with a very subtle modern twist without loosing its character, they have got it spot on! Thank You to Nintendo for the WII you have brought a different and great console which is in a different league to the big boys of Playstations and Xbox's!!

Product Description

This product contains both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Nintendo's Wii video game system (pronounced "we") is designed to attract people, regardless of their age or video game experience, to sit down and play together--whether they're in the same room or on different sides of the globe. The system's name reflects this simple idea. It's easily pronounced in a variety of languages, and the distinctive spelling suggests two players side by side. The two Wii features Nintendo thinks will create new levels of gaming community are built-in Wi-Fi access, supported by a new online gaming service, and Wii's intuitive, wireless, motion-sensitive game controller. As with every new console release, much of the buzz surrounds the specs. The system boasts 512 MB of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. Wii's technological heart -- a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named "Hollywood" -- are said to deliver stunning performance. Instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. The real revolution in this system, though, is its controller, called the Wii Remote. Shaped like a TV remote, it's been designed to be easily used by beginners and pros alike. Sensors determine the Wii Remote's position is in 3-D space, which means that racing-game steering and a tennis swing, for example, are done through movements of your hand rather than by just your thumbs. What's more, a tiny speaker built into the Wii Remote promises some interactive surround sound experiences. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analog thumbstick and trigger buttons. An adapter that fits over the Wii's wee remote will be available for those who prefer the feel of a traditional controller. The Wii Remote communicates via the Bluetooth wireless standard. Up to four remotes can connect to Wii. Wii offers superb backward compatibility -- the cornerstone of Nintendo's all-access approach. This new console will play fan-favourite games from Nintendo's 20-year-old library. The drive is compatible with GameCube discs, and select Nintendo titles from the original NES of the 1980s all the way through the Nintendo 64 will be available through for download through the Virtual Console. As if that weren't enough, the Virtual Console will also make available a few titles from SNES console contemporaries, Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx 16. Several new titles have been confirmed for Wii, including Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, as well as Square Enix's Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. A number of Wi-Fi-enabled titles are in development that will employ Nintendo's newly-announced wireless gaming service, WiiConnect24. This worldwide network promises Nintendo players a comfortable, inviting environment in which they can gather and compete. The always-on network will deliver game updates and surprises, even when the Wii is powered down. And as you would expect, Wii will be able to communicate with the Nintendo DS mobile gaming system wirelessly. The Wii console will revolutionise how people play games. But more importantly, it will entice new players into the world of video games by offering a variety of entertainment, information and communication Channels that add value to the console and make it a device that the entire family can enjoy. The Wii Channel Menu will be the first screen shown on the television, as it easily integrates itself as part of people’s everyday lives. Disc Channel: This channel allows users to play either Wii game discs or the entire library of Nintendo GameCube discs. Mii Channel: Fun caricatured portraits created in this channel can be used as characters across a variety of Wii software. Portraits can be stored in a user’s Wii Remote and taken to a friend’s house to play on another Wii console. Each member of the family can have his or her Wii Remote personalized with a caricature. Photo Channel: This channel allows users to take digital pictures stored on an SD memory card and display them on their television screens. Users also can manipulate the photos in a variety of fun and creative ways, such as zooming or creating mosaics, puzzles or slide shows. They can draw, add stamps, and copy and paste. They also can change the "mood" of photos by brightening them, converting them to monochrome, inverting the colour or changing them to stark black and white. Users can even add an MP3 tune to their slide shows. It provides a fun and easy outlet for people to edit their digital pictures. Users also can send their pictures to other Wii consoles by attaching a photo to the Wii Message Board. Forecast Channel: Users who have connected their Wii console to the Internet can access free local weather forecasts just a few seconds after turning on the Wii console. The WiiConnect24 service automatically updates local weather information. Users can view forecasts for cities around the world on a 3-D globe. News Channel: Users can access breaking news with the touch of a button. When connected to the Internet, the WiiConnect24 service automatically updates this free channel and organizes it in a variety of topical categories. Users can see where news is happening by viewing the location of news stories on a 3-D globe. Wii Shop Channel: This is where users go to buy Wii Points or redeem them to download classic video games to the Virtual Console. Users also can use points to download the Opera browser used in the Internet Channel. Internet Channel: This channel dramatically changes the relationship between a user’s home, the television and the Internet. Users download the Opera browser with Wii Points. Then they can surf the Internet right from the comfort of their couch. They can do quick research while watching a television program ("What was that actor’s name again?"). Or book travel plans and shop during commercials. The service is compatible with Macromedia Flash. Wii Message Board: Forget hand-scrawled notes tacked to the refrigerator door. Users can leave messages for other family members on a calendar-based message board. They also can use WiiConnect24 to send messages to people outside the home as well. Even better, people can trade photos and text messages with cell phone users. The service also allows for incoming messages targeted at software, such as a new map or weapon for a game. Games can constantly be updated, thereby extending their playability.

Wii-lly good console - not just for children

Review Date: December 15, 2009
Reviewer: D. Clarke, Cheshire UK
My partner and I bought this stylish black Wii console for a joint Christmas present to ourselves, together with a Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Wii).

The black Console blends well with our other black boxes under the TV - such as the Surround sound system and video recorder. I think the white one would have been much more conspicuous.

We intended to check that it worked, then wrap it up for Christmas, however, we enjoyed the Wii so much, that we've kept it out and used it for almost a month.

We're in our 40s and wish that there was something this entertaining when we were younger. It has helped us to regain some fitness in a fun way and we suffer a minor addiction to the 100 pin bowling on the Wii Sports Resort.

The Wii also lets you install a copy of the BBC i-player, so that you can download BBC programs that you missed and failed to record because you were enthralled by the Wii.

Top marks to Nintendo, video consoles have come a long way since my old Sega Master Sytem II Console.

Black Wii with Sports Resort and Motion Plus

Being retired it is perhaps strange to be purchasing a Wii. I really wanted it for WiiFit which I now have. This is a remarkable machine if you want to keep fit and play some sports as well. If you want a black one then get it sooner rather than later.A life changing purchase.
Fantastic!

Not much to add that hasn't already been written about it. We've not been a game playing family (this is our first console), but I'm glad we got it. Everyone in the family can play from the kids to our parents and in-laws - so literally everyone from 6 to 60s. The technology is incredible and the attention to detail quite astounding. The remote controls are fully wireless and very sensitive, to the point one almost forgets one is playing a computer game! The remotes also have built-in speakers so you get noises coming out of your individual remote controllers.

I would recommend getting a second remote at the same time as buying this as many of the games are more fun with two players playing simultaneously on screen.
Love it!

Review Date: November 20, 2009
Reviewer: S. Fairbank, S.Wales, U.K.
Fantastic product, as other reviewers have said before it blends in well with the TV, BluRay Player and even the Sky box! One notable improvement on the black wii is the standby - when you switch the console off via the Wii-mote, it goes to red on the console, whereas on the white wii, switching that one off via the remote only turns it to amber. I like this improvement, although small, as the difference between the green and amber light was so minute you could barely see it on the white console. I guess those of you familiar with it might know where I'm coming from - at least on the black wii I know I have actually turned it off!

It comes complete with black remote, black nunchuck and black motion plus controller, including two silicone covers for both sized remotes. I just prefer the look of the black console and accessories - the blue lights stand out better on it all and it just looks sleeker. They've also included a special cleaning cloth for the wii to avoid scratching. I guess this time round they really have thought of everything!

As for the gameplay - fantastic. Innovative and so much fun. Particularly Mario Kart Wii, endless hours of family fun!

What a fantastic piece of kit. It looks great next to my other black gear. Works like a dream and the whole family had a great time over Christmas using it. All levels of skill and age can be catered for, wish I had bought one ages ago. Dont hesitate, go for one , you wont be dissapointed.

Totally lush! And NOT a rip-off

Review Date: October 26, 2009
Reviewer: emma who reads a lot, London
Delia Smith's first Christmas book (published 1990) is the King of Christmas Cookbooks. Now she has brought out a new cookbook, containing some recipes from the old, and a hundred new ones too. Does this short-change her readers?

I think this book is a great acquisition. Unlike some of the other humbug-ish reviewers here, I relish the chance to try some new Delia Christmas recipes, and I think they are totally characteristic of her excellent style. (One reviewer complains many of the recipes here appeared in a WHSmith Xmas special Delia did in 2003 and 2004 but for those of us who don't have copies handy, most of what's in this book will be new.)

Plenty of things have changed in the two decades since the first book was published and the hundred new recipes in this book reflect that. For example, people eat a lot less meat. Out of eleven recipes in the vegetarian section, only three come from the 1990 book. A new watercress soup, a vegetable pie, a different cheese terrine, a macadamia and pistachio nutroast. These are just one example.

The sections with the most duplication are the classic sections like Christmas cakes and puddings and the preserves, which is sort of understandable as it is difficult to think up innovation there. But even in cakes modern life has arrived - the Dundee cake recipe has disappeared, and there are two delicious sounding recipes using Panettone, the Italian Christmas cake now widely available in supermarkets.

Lists of suppliers have been updated, as have menu suggestions now stretching to every meal from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day. There's also a lot more party food, and more choices of main course for those whose palates are too posh for turkey - including a slow braised belly pork recipe which should also please credit crunchers. And for those Scots who had been feeling a bit neglected, a new Hogmanay section gives a Scots trifle, a crab soup and a Haggis pie recipe for Hogmanay.

If I have any criticisms of this book its that in such a lush book, with high production values, there isn't a picture of every dish! Which is especially mental when it comes to puddings, which you NEED to see pictures of! No photo of the Chocolate Chestnut log so you can work out how to create the bark effect?? Come on!

But apart from that, the more time I've spent flicking through the book the more I'm surprised at the negative reactions of some Amazon readers. I will not be able to get rid of the old Christmas book as how would I manage without its recipes, the ones not reprinted here, such as Roast Ham with mustard and demerara crust, and Port Wine Jelly?? But this new book is great, really inspiring, and makes me look forward to Christmas even more than I already was.
Fantastic Delia book - Happy Christmas indeed!

Joy to the World. I was really looking forward to my new Delia Happy Christmas book and it doesnt disappoint. I have the original Christmas book too so was probably wondering at first, like others, would this be much different? Well Delia has really managed to ring the changes with this one, and it has brought us right up to date. It looks very elegant, very cool, calm and collected. This is one book to have with you before, during and probably after Christmas too, so many excellent entertaining recipes and ideas. New and old recipes, classic favourites and new twists all in one place. Lots of hints and preparation tips which will be particularly handy for the generation that Delia refers to, who havent cooked Christmas dinner before (and still a good reminder to those of us who have, many times!). I love the armchair shopping section too - if like me, you like to shop online, lots of great sites for your Christmas essentials.
Christmas just isnt Christmas without some of Delia's mums sausage rolls, hot from the oven, so do yourself a favour and make up a batch soon, grab a pad and pen and relax and plan your festivities. Cheers!
As good as ever!!!

Delia's original Christmas book is one of my most used cookery books. I use it every Christmas. Have made all the Christmas cake recipes and use the Christmas pudding recipe every year. Love the Parmesan-baked parsnips, traditional ham, ice-creams etc.Every recipe works well and deserves it's place in the book. This book is a worthy successor. It's full of exciting recipes which I can't wait to try. Have bought it in good time so I can plan ahead.
Delia's recipes WORK and are tasty and delicious.Just what we need as part of a busy life!
A Well Produced Book

Reviewer: Mrs. Jayne Hawkins,
I like this book, it's clear, concise and very well written. However, I do agree with an earlier comment regarding a picture for every recipe. I admit to being a Delia fan - quite simply because her recipes and methods of cooking can be trusted to work and so far have never failed me!

I shall be ordering two more copies to give as Christmas presents - and I'm quite certain the recipients will not be disappointed.

I bet by next christmas my copy will be well and truly 'splattered' as any good cookbook should be.
Everyone Needs Delia at Christmas! Great new ideas!

I am really delighted with the new Delia Happy Christmas book. I love the fact that all the true, tried and trusted Delia ideas are still there e.g. the last 36 hours and how to get organised well ahead. But with lots of new ideas too. I Can't wait to try out the Chrismas crackers - yummy pastry too. I think its so good to have a new pudding ideas as well - looks quite easy to do.

I do think we all worry at Christmas and Delia is certainly our family's solution! Other people seem to have tried to do Christmas but this is up to date and easy to follow great advice.

I have 2 daughters and have bought the book for both of them so they can do it all for me soon! I think it is a lovely tradition that i have had my old book for 19 years and now we can still be using Delia in 2009.

Just loved the cover of the book - so striking. Really pretty and unusual,
but still festive.

Always the best, but this year I discovered something that makes it even better

Review Date: September 28, 2008
Reviewer: Birch East, New York
I first read the Guinness Book of World Records when I was kid back in the 70s, and it's comforting to see it still going strong. I'll say that I definitely preferred the old school text-heavy versions from back in the day to the flourescent lime, 3D photography, picture-fest of today. It's a new world we live in now, so I guess it's hard to fault the Big G for keeping up with the times.

As much as I've long loved the Guinness book itself, I was always a little disappointed that there wasn't a good resource written ABOUT Guinness -- its history, evolution, and especially about how it became the phenomenon that inspires people to carry out such dedicated acts of nuttiness. A few weeks ago in New York, I saw a book profiled in the newspaper titled GETTING INTO GUINNESS by Larry Olmsted. Olmsted is a journalist as well as a two-time GBWR record-holder, and I gave it a try. Well, it's the perfect companion piece to the Guinness book; it puts everything into context and lets you feel like a real insider. 300 pages of fascinating real life stories about the quest for Guinness recordhood, and Amazon has it for under nine pounds. I'll be giving them together as a gift to my nephew. Buy them as a tandem (which is what I should have done) and you'd even get free shipping with Prime! Getting into Guinness: One Man's Longest, Fastest, Highest Journey Inside the World's Most Famous Record Book
The Best yet

I have collected plenty of copies of GWR but this excels all. The 3-D glasses bring the book to life.
Excellent

As always both the book and Amazon delivered the goods. We have not managed to get the 7 year old's head out of the book, one of his 'bestest ever' presents.Guinness World Records 2010
No wonder this is the world's best selling book!

Review Date: September 23, 2008
Reviewer: Josh, Britain
After having received Guinness World Records 2009, as a gift, I've realised just how good it is. I was in Tesco a few days ago, and flicked through it then. I thought it was good. But now I own it, it's enabled me to see the extent of just how good it is.

Saying that it's the best edition of Guinness World Records to date, and it is (no worries there), isn't really that much of an achievement. Saying, however, it's the best book I've ever read...the best book ever made...is.
And this is. It's crammed full of amazing achievements, epic engineering, fantastic feats, and much more amazing stuff to feast your eyes on.

Leaving `Ripley's: Believe It Or Not' for dead, GWR really have excelled themselves this time. It really is astonishing.
This year's edition also includes huge, awe-inspiring fold out 3D features, which are apparently obvious when you wear the 3D-glasses that are provided.
It's awesome!

- Revealed: the world's strongest man
- The record-breaking world of Harry Potter
- Inside the Hollywood Hall of Fame
- The top ten videogames of the year
- Face to face with dinosaurs in exciting 3D!
- Plus your favourite records country by country

All this can be found in the spectacular book that is Guinness World Records 2009.

I'd suggest going over to that bookshop, right this second, and buying a copy.
Guaranteed - you won't be disappointed.
enjoyed

Product Description

Ever since being brought up by The Beatles, Frankie Boyle has been a tremendous liar. Join him on his adventures with his chum Clangy The Brass Boy and laugh as he doesn't accidentally kill a student nurse when a party gets out of hand. I don't think anyone can have written an autobiography without at some point thinking "Why would anyone want to know this shit?" I've always read them thinking "I don't want to know where Steve Tyler grew up, just tell me how many groupies he f**ked!"' So begins Frankie's outrageous, laugh-out loud, cynical rant on life as he knows it. From growing up in Pollockshaws, Glasgow ('it was an aching cement void, a slap in the face to Childhood, and for the family it was a step up'), to his rampant teenage sex drive ('in those days if you glimpsed a nipple on T.V. it was like porn Christmas'), and first job working in a mental hospital ('where most evenings were spent persuading an old man in his pants not to eat a family sized block of cheese'), nothing is out of bounds. Outspoken, outrageous and brilliantly inappropriate, Frankie Boyle, the dark heart of Mock the Week, says the unsayable as only he can. From the TV programmes he would like to see made ('Celebrities On Acid On Ice: just like Celebrity Dancing On Ice, but with an opening sequence where Graham Norton hoses the celebrities down with liquid LSD'), to his native Scotland and the Mayor of London ('voting for Boris Johnson wasn't that different to voting for a Labrador wearing a Wonder Woman costume'), nothing and no one is safe from Frankie's fearless, sharp-tongued assault. Sharply observed and full of taboo-busting, we-really-shouldn't-be-laughing-at-this humour, My Shit Life So Far shows why Frankie Boyle really is the blackest man in show business.

I can't stop laughing!

Review Date: October 1, 2009
Reviewer: Comedy fan, UK
This is the funniest autobiography i've ever read. Bored of the same old, run of the mill celebrity drivel, i was hoping Frankie would deliver something different - which he has. Hilarious, rude and offensive, Frankie tells it like it is (even though we might not dare to say it). I bought this book this morning and read it in one sitting it's that entertaining. Just a word of advice - don't read it while eating or drinking. I exploded with laughter, covering my partner in a fine spray of beer. Enjoy.
Superb stuff

Reviewer: Steven Brown,
I read 2 pages of the introduction when I saw it in a bookshop, and was laughing so much that I bought it there and then.

If you're a fan of his stand-up or Mock the Week, you'll definitely enjoy this - it's written in exactly the same style - crude, cutting, and very very funny.

In summary, a hilarious alternative to standard, boring celebrity biographies.
That's Frankie, ladies and gentelman.

Review Date: September 6, 2010
Reviewer: Kuba,
If you liked him in Mock the Week then buy his dvd first, or see his stand-up. After that, if you still like him, buy this book. It's brilliant. But who am I to judge that? In Frankie's own words: "What kind of person buys the authobiography of a panel show contestant? Wake up you C..T" :)
Excellent

Toshiba's EcoPanel technology utilises materials of the highest possible quality and clarity to construct an LCD panel so translucent that as much as half as much light is required to illuminate it as compared to conventional panels. A TV with a conventional LCD panel requires powerful backlights to illuminate the screen. This is where most of the power consumption comes from. By reducing the amount of light required to brighten the screen, REGZA LCD TVs with EcoPanel can deliver the same brilliant HD picture quality, with almost half the power. With EcoPanel, you can relax knowing that Toshiba's green LCD TV technology is being kind to the environment and saving you up to 45% of your TV's energy consumption*, all while providing you with the same cutting-edge features and exceptional picture quality. *Comparing the 32RV635 with EcoPanel compared to Toshiba's 32XV505DB model AutoView Toshiba's unique technology that automatically adjusts picture settings depending on not only the room lighting, which is common feature on quality LCD TVs these days, but also the content shown on screen. The technology eliminates the need to constantly have to adjust the backlight brightness and colour settings in order to find the best viewing experience in all environments. The ambient light sensor is constantly analysing the room lighting and adjusting the LCD's backlight to suit. Through the use of this technology the viewer is provided with a more comfortable viewing experience in all lighting conditions. Content viewed on screen is also constantly analysed. Dark and bright pixels shown on screen are monitored and picture settings are adjusted to provide the best possible image. AutoView means that your REGZA LCD TV is always performing at its full potential, delivering the best possible picture quality at all times. Active Vision II Active Vision II is our acclaimed high performance picture processing system. It has been designed to produce high quality, high definition images by enhancing core elements of a television picture: Detail: Images are now spread over a larger number of smaller pixels compared to a conventional LCD TV. This allows highly detailed images to be produced far more accurately across all colour tones. Colour: Active Vision reproduces colours with more tones than conventional LCD televisions, producing images with reduced banding for a smoother, more realistic colour progression. Movement: Picture sharpness in fast moving scenes is increased, with a reduction in the jagged edges often seen on lines and fine detail. Contrast: The monitoring and adjustment of contrast enhances detail and increases the ability of the television to represent subtle shade changes. Game Mode Models in the XV Series have an exciting new feature for the gamers amongst you - Game Mode. This feature is designed to enhance the gaming experience by ensuring the best possible aspect ratios and response time of the television to the gaming console. Game Mode bypasses much of the picture processing technology required to enhance TV programmes and films, resulting in an improved response time and screen refresh rate. Game Mode is compatible with any HDMI equipped games console and automatically adjusts the picture to deliver a more realistic game setting and importantly 1:1 pixel mapping. This allows every last detail of the original image to be shown without cropping the edges; giving the online gamer a distinct advantage over opponents without Game Mode and improving the overall gaming experience for even the most casual of gamers. First review of this new tv anywhere on the web!

Review Date: April 23, 2009
Reviewer: N. Barter, uk
The first thing I notice is the improved design. I was slighty put off but the design of the 555xv series, with the speakers looking like a bit of an add on. They've added a fading grey line, which adds a bit of class to the tv. (see badly taken attached photo!)

Very easy to set up, so easy my technologically inept wife could attach the stand and tune in the freeview channels! This model has resolution +, which after seeing what upscaling freeview and dvd boxes do, I was quite sketical about. It "allows your LCD TV to display standard definition images at near high definition" according to the Toshiba website. Well, put it this way, I'm not planning to get sky HD anymore!

The blacks are very good and autoview is a nice addition so that you don't have to change the contrast etc if watching a dark movie late in the evening. The main reason that I went for the 37 not the 32 was Dolby® Digital Plus. I have 7.1 with a specialist decoder to create a home cinema experience. I tested the sound coming directly from the sky box verses from via the tv and was impressed on the extra surround sound generated. Can't wait to watch my new THX versions of Star Wars to hear what it does.

I'm slighty disapointed in the small size of manual, although you can download a in-depth version. Also, that no cables/adapters are included, but that's just the way things go. It's good that you can turn off the glowing "Toshiba" sign on the bottom of the tv, and nice that you have a full-power-down button to save those penny's.

The menu system is straight-forward, hiding the advanced options unless you want to adjust them. I also like the way that when you - for example - adjust the contrast, the main menu screen reduces to the bottom corner, so that you can see how the whole picture changes with each degree of adjustment.

Overall very impressed for the amount of money spent and would recommend to anyone wanting to get a tv in this price range.
Well worth your cash!

Wow is my first word for this review, I got to say that I was slightly unsure if I had made the right choice on this TV as I have been a Samsung fan for many years (well.. 6yrs to be exact!)

When I got this TV today (thats 1 day after ordering) I was amazed at how light and lovely it looked.

I managed to work out the stand and then got it set-up and tuned in, This took around 10mins total time and was easy.

First thing I noticed was the picture on the Freeview, its alot better than my 32' Samsung HD Ready TV that I have had for just under 2years now. The picture seems crisper and brighter than I have had to deal with before.

Then I clicked the guide button, some of you may not think this is a feature worth writing about but I have to disagree that some inbuilt Freeview guides are rubbish. This TV has a awesome guide that takes up all the screen and shows you on a proper timeline when and what is on.

Once I booted up my PS3 and changed the setting from 1080i to 1080p I was amazed at how crisp the text looked, Then I watched the opening scene from The Dark Knight and was in love with the clear picture.

I have only had the TV a day but already all my fears have been put to one side, its a great TV and for this price I would recommend it!
Great Tv

A great buy for the money. Good picture on HD and it upscales SD well. Easy to set up and lots of tweaks to get it right; the online manual is very helpful to sort these aspects out. The sound is better than i expected given other reviews that were less than positive on this point. A very good product

Awesome Full HD TV for a Good Price

Review Date: July 23, 2009
Reviewer: Mr. D. E. D. Wood, Cornwall
I bought this Tele after weeks and weeks of shopping around. I couldn't decided weather to go for the Full 1080p or not. The difference in price of the Tv's was about £100. I decided to go for this TV because more and more third generation games for the PS3 are releasing at 1080p. It also takes into account the increasing number of HDMI product on the market and the likelyhood of you getting them by giving you 4 HDMI slots. After all the theortical parts of the TV being tip top, I then started using it. It is fantastic, perfectly crisp picture, with very vivid bright and rich colours. The Freeview menu is very stylish, and the remote is nice and compact. I would recomend to anyone wanting to get a 32" Full HD TV which will last for a long time into the future, for a very cheap price.
A lot of Toshiba for little dosh

I've had this set for a couple of weeks now, as a second set. The previous week I had owned an expensive Sony which was sent back due to a horrible backlight problem. After upgrading to a 42" (expensive) plasma last year, I couldn't stand watching fuzzy freeview anymore. I think that 32" is about the maximum size for freeview. I am extremely happy with this set, with so many picture options it caters for all tastes, there are multible variables for each picture setting, just about everything can be tweaked. SD pictures via 'S', RGB, or hdmi are crisp and clear. The set recalls each inputs' last setting. The meta brain picture suite includes Active Vision II, and resolution+, which has 6 levels including 'off'. HD pictures are excellent, via hdmi or component, with really dark blacks and the brightest colours. Freeview pictures are perfectly clear, the resolution+ really does help, and it works on all inputs including HDMI. Sound quality is not the best, but there is good depth, and adequate volume for most programming, without rattling speakers. A lot of TV for the money, and better than the far more expensive Sony. I don't know how much of the set is manufactured in the UK, but at least it is assembled here, which has to be of some help to our economy. It the highest specified Toshiba 32" TV, not a stripped down version. At around £400, this has to be the best value set currently on the market.
Great Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB 32-inch

Reviewer: blackwater pete,
After a lot of research I bought this Toshiba TV last month to replace a broken Sony TV and must say I'm delighted with it.
Picture quality is suberb and the sound is as good as I've heard on any LCD TV. Its got more settings and adjustments than you can shake a stick at yet its very easy to set-up.
The remote control is clearly laidout and intuitive to use.
Value-for-money is unbeatable.
I'd recommend this great looking TV to anyone looking for a high quality product at a fantastic price.
BTW, Alex's tenuous grasp of English says all I need to know about the credibility of his earlier knocking review !
One of the best HDTV's money can buy!

*Supports 1080p which is essential for Blu-Ray films and HD gaming!

*Quality sound and easy to use menu.

*Great value for money.

*The only negative aspect is the freeview is rather slow when switching channel.

This unit is fab ! I'm not going to blind anyone with technical stuff because firstly, I don't know it, and secondly, it isn't always that interesting !!!

All I know is that this set looks great - the images are excellent and can be fine tuned - and in comparison with the 28" CRT it replaced, is as light as a feather ! It took two men to carry that one away (so how come I managed to move it on my own ?!?!?!) and onloy me to set this new one up. I've looked at holiday snaps using the USB port and a flash memory and if that's anything to go by, hooking up this little NC10 will be amazing.

I also like the fact that if you are plugged in to Sky or use a DVD player, the TV will automatically switch to the correct channel !!

I hmmm'd and haww'd about getting this, but so glad I did !!!

Excellent All Rounder

Reviewer: Mr. D. J. Puttnam,
I purchased this TV from Amazon, and as usual it arrived when it was supposed to and the price was a lot better than on the high street.
Set up was quick and easy, just a few screws for the stand then turn it on and answer a couple of questions and it sets itself up in a less than 5 minutes.
I bought the TV for my parents to put in the living room and it is brilliant, they didnt want anything larger than 32" so there wasnt really any point in getting a 1080p set. The picture quality is excellent on freeview and even better with Sky and to be honest just as good as my larger 1080p Sony Bravia. There are a few presets and many individual settings you can adjust to get the picture how you like it. Sound quality is very good too considering the size of the speakers, especially if you have a play with a few of the options.
The remote is uncluttered and easy to use and the on screen freeview guide is pretty good too.
One thing that may be a problem for some users is that this TV only has one scart socket, but it does have 3 HMDMI sockets so shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Overall a great TV at a great price.
Amazing Amazon

Ordered from Amazon and arrived day before the expected earliest delivery date, well done Amazon.
TV itself is a peach to set up, just a couple of screws required to attach stand and easy to follow on screen instructions.
All set and ready to go after 10 mins.
TV automatically detects freeview channels and you are then good to go.
Only having one scart connector is no big hassle as you do get a choice of three HDMI connections, two at rear of set and one at side. You also get component connections at the rear and composite connections at the side.
TV has been set up and we now have a V+ cable set-top box, an XBox360, a Wii and a DVD connected up and all give fantastically clear pictures
The sound is good, but some people who have larger living rooms might find the sound a bit feeble and have to use the rear audio out leads through an amplifier.
Overall an excellent TV at an unbeatable price
Great buy!

I decided on this TV after much research. My criteria were 300-400 GBP, HD ready, 32 inch at least 2 hdmi sockets, decent sound, recent model; and this was a win all round. At this price it's a real bargain! Well done Samsang and Amazon!
Excellent picture, good sound, good service

I bought this for my mother-in-law before there were any reviews available, based on my own good experience with the 40" Samsung LE40A656.

At the time this model (LE32B450C4) was on sale for the same price as the Samsung LE32A436T (for which there were a lot of positive reviews).
It was hard to tell from the Samsung site what were the benefits of one model compared with the other, but I guessed that the LE32B450C4 was the newer model and went for it anyway, despite the lack of user reviews.

Other reviews have criticised the sound quality of other Samsung LCD TVs but this seemed to be absolutely fine in a medium size living room, and the picture quality on Freeview is excellent.

We bought this to be ready for the imminent Digital Switchover, and the only minor niggle is this:
If when you go to change channels you accidentally hit the 0 (zero) button, it switches to the analogue tuner. The documentation doesn't mention this or tell you how to get back to the DTV tuner.
We found by trial and error that hitting the next channel button (perhaps several times) flips you back to the DTV tuner.

I tried it with an HDMI feed from my digital SLR (stills only, can't find what the resolution is supposed to be) and the picture quality was also excellent, very sharp.
Great for the price.

I only bought it for gaming but it looks great to me. Sound is not that great but I have it plugged through speakers and it is awesome.
Don't think there is a lot of diff between this and 1080p.
If £350 is your budget and you want a 32inch this a a good buy.
